How to Improve Lung Health

By Dr. Sourabh Pandey · 8 April 2026 · 3 min read

Lung health is shaped by what we breathe in and how actively we use our lungs. A few consistent habits go a long way.

Reduce exposure

Avoid tobacco smoke in all forms, improve kitchen ventilation, limit exposure to dust and strong fumes, and use protection at workplaces with airborne particles.

Stay active

Regular aerobic activity such as brisk walking improves breathing efficiency and exercise tolerance. Breathing exercises can help those with chronic lung conditions.

Prevent infections

Hand hygiene, timely vaccination as advised by your doctor, and early treatment of chest infections help protect lung tissue.

Do not ignore symptoms

Persistent cough, wheeze or breathlessness are signals, not inconveniences. Early evaluation preserves lung function.
